idols idling

Ok so Hady won.

-cues confetti and tears-

The whole show was so pre-recorded. What's the point.

Botswana Idol was so much better right?

kismet

You said hi,

But I was asleep.

I woke up, said hi back.

Before long my mother nagged.

Dinner was served.

I'll be back,

But you were gone.

Left me your name and number.

I called, neglecting Idol.

We chatted, your voice soothed.

It went on after that.

And that was how we met.

dwindling circle

We used to be such a big group of misfits.

Now 3 is the common number.

Hanging out before assembly in the canteen talking trash, in between lessons during recess eating trash and after school parading around town especially during exam periods.

There were tears and stuff getting torn as we argued and fought. But there were more laughters and side-splitting stomach aches when we bitched and gossiped about people, teachers and even our previous fights with each other.

I fell out, but fell right back in again.

No one said anything but we vowed in our hearts and in our minds to stick together as a group. A clique if you must.

However time corrodes such promises.

Where we've had each other around for 5 or more days a week in the past, it's been replaced by the droning on of camp life and the people in it.

8 years of one another. Are we bored? Have we known each other for so long that there's nothing new to find out?

I hope not.

p.s. i'm such a hypocrite for saying all this. it's not as if i'm actively trying to hold the group together. i got sick of some people aeons ago too. this is such a hypocritical entry. don't take it seriously.

falling in love is just that. falling.

Just got back from Forbidden City.

It was superb! The acting was great, the singing was marvelous. I'm awed at how much work everyone must have put in.

Maybe someday, i'll be in such a big-scale musical. Singing the lead. Someday.

What! I can dream right?

My bitches from FDC. Without these two, there would be no laughter and time would have passed horribly indeed.

Thanks for getting me off my ass to go watch this musical. What a waste if i hadn't.

It was $80 bucks well spent indeed.

Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress

Kit Chan, here i come!

......

Meanwhile, you guys should check this flickr set out.

Apparently, taking photos of animals are so yesterday. Taking photos of animals taking photos are the thing now, and it's so cute!

The photo at the bottom is my favourite. The owner of the photos captioned it "Without her contact lens Jaybel Squirrel can not focus the old manual camera. so Bebop and Hank help her search !!!!"

I personally feel like it should be captioned "All hail the manual camera" cos they seem to be kowtowing it.

Ubercute.

the worst send-off in reality tv history...

...goes to the show "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?"

I've been downloading loads of shows from America, mostly reality programs, and i stumbled onto this ulufied show that no one's heard of.

The show's about Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a totally unknown girl to star in the role of Maria Von Trapp for the forthcoming West End production of The Sound of Music.

You know the song that goes, the hills are alive, with the sound of muuuusic...

That song must have been sung to death in every single episode!

Anyway, i got to the point where the final 10 Marias (that's what they're called) battle it out by singing songs that were pre-chosen for them.

They were singing popish songs in their best musical production voices and it all sounded a little bit disconcerting for me. Like asking Charlotte Church, with her semi-operatic voice, to sing "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia, it just sounded wrong.

What made it worse was when i watched almost 3/4 of the show, i realised each of the Marias had only one colour assigned to them, whatever outfit they were in. It's like, whatever colour one person wore, she only wore dresses of that colour.

Soon, instead of watching them perform, i got preoccupied trying to remember what each girl was wearing at the start of the show, and whether it was the same colour now. And it was!

What kind of bad styling is that?

Anyway, at the end of the show, one of the Marias got voted off by the public and at first when the host asked her to wait by the side, i thought she would get a final parting song.

She got a final song indeed. But it was a group number and this was how it went:

[Marias who were through to the next round:]
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night
[Ousted Maria:]
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight

[Marias who were through to the next round:]
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu
[Ousted Maria:]
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu

[Marias who were through to the next round:]
So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
[Ousted Maria:]
I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne

[Marias who were through to the next round:]
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
[Ousted Maria:]
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye -- Goodbye!
I'm glad to go, I cannot tell a lie
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
The sun has gone to bed and so must I

[Marias who were through to the next round:]
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

The other 9 Marias stood in a V-formation and faced the audience, while the one that got eliminated stood infront of the formation, with her back facing the audience. Meaning she was facing the ones that made it through. And they were singing that song TO HER FACE.

As if being eliminated wasn't bad enough, she had to endure being ridiculed (even if the other 9 didn't intend to) and still sing solo parts about herself leaving.

It was quite a sad spectacle actually, because a few of the Marias that made it were sobbing as they were singing. You could hear them sniffling into the mics as they moved around the stage.

It was seriously an "Oh shit" moment when i was watching that unfortunate send-off. Really terrible.

Now imagine if Singapore Idol had that kind of send-off. Instead of watching an inspirational video of your idol journey, you would be surrounded by the rest and being mocked. That would be priceless.

And i just blogged pointlessly about a pointless show. If you read until here, then you're pointless too.

2nd AWOL case

If you'd recall, there was an AWOL case sometime in June this year. And the AWOL-ee actually put some distance between the domestic authorities and herself.

This AWOL-ee wasn't so lucky this time. All she managed was to get across the road. The domestic authorities were on prowl and spotted the AWOL-ee crouched behind a stone slab.

When they reached her side, they realised that she was limp. They flipped her around to face them and got a shock of their lives!

The badly beaten and bruised AWOL-ee looked to be dead for a few hours and might even have been sexually abused.

The domestic authorities need your help in identifying this AWOL-ee.

If anyone has any information, please dial 1800-NSNSNS, or 1800-676767 (this number actually exists!).

......

Jokes aside, another maid of mine ran away yet again! My mum and dad were coming home from the market when the car drove past a road junction near my house and my mum saw her.

Apparently she ran out of the car and chased after her, falling down in the process.

In the end, she found her hiding behind this stone slab that says "Welcome to Woodlands" or something to that effect.

We can't seem to keep a maid for long anymore.

......

Anyway, how did you guys like my photo? I swear i only edited the colour and saturation. The weird facial contours were all done while taking the photo.

This photo is called a Jowler and is done by jowling.

First you relax your facial muscles then you shake your head from side to side real fast and snap away, preferably with flash so as to capture the moment. The resulting photo is a Jowler.

It looks embarrassing, but is such a hoot! I tried to get JW and KW to take one too, but they were too paiseh! Tsk!

"We only live once!" i say.

Anyway, here are some more Jowlers. There's an entire website dedicated to this sort of thing!

It's so funny!

......

On a totally random note, my new (this is getting old) maid's name sounds like Eureka! We're calling her Eka for short.

i have a pimple the size of pluto

It's not big enough to be considered a planet, but it's obviously not small enough to not attract attention.

I also got a haircut from Monsoon and it's so bloody short and i love it!

he said, (s)he said

It's a lil bit vulgur and every bit hilarious!

If you haven't watched it yet, you have to!

Oh a totally random note, i had tremendous fun today!

Went to sing in the morning with Harry and i totally love Tong En's new song! Sang it twice!

Walked around abit and there were these kids from some international school that was attracting alot of attention, because they were all decked out in silver.

The little girl even had a silver pigeon which i had thought was real at first because it's wings flapped sporadically. Then i realised the girl was manipulating it with her hands, and that it's wings weren't completely attached to it's body.

Oh and i bought another tee again.

Yay! Love the colour, but i'm afraid it'll make me look like a dirty fellow.

You know, cos it's yellow?

how do you spell "Gabbana"?

That's the quote of the movie for me.

The movie was hilarious, poignant and touching. In short, it was FABULOUS! The clothes! The brands! Heidi Klum!

And i loved Anne Hathaway since her Princess Diary "somebody-sat-on-me-again" days.

Oh oh, and Meryl Streep! Not so hot without makeup but who cares!

Before the movie, i was approached by one of those people wanting to sell you insurance policies. The woman was asking where i was going and when i told her we were going to catch the show, she exclaimed that it was a girl's show!

But it's not! Men love it too!

Right?

you've been tagged

*Instructions*
1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn't make sense. NO CHEATING!
4. Tag 5 at their tagboard to ask them to do this!
5. Bold the questions and with the answers, give your own comments on how it relates to the questions

How are you feeling today?
Make Over [Christina Aguilera]
"I just wanna get away,
saving all your bullshit for another day,
i'm the only one that can rescue me, from me."

Will you get far in life?
Save Me [Jem]
"I've gotta stop my mind
Working overtime
It's driving me insane
It will not let me live
Always so negative
It's become my enemy"

How do your friends see you?
Now That She's Gone [Lin Jun Jie]
No link.

Will you get married?
Nails For Breakfast, Tacks For Snacks [Panic! At the Disco]
"And with the way you've been talking
Every word gets you a step closer to hell"
Er...

What is your best friend's theme song?
Come Fly With Me [Michael Buble]
It's a song about lovers ain't it?

What is the story of your life?
Ben Lai [Tong En]
It's about someone not realising he/she's being loved until after the love's waned.

What was high school like?
Head Over Feet [Alanis Morisette]
"You're the best listener that I've ever met
You're my best friend
Best friend with benefits"
Well, i met all my close friends in high school.

To describe your grandparents?
Love Makes The World Go Round [Ashlee Simpson]
They love me, they love each other, i love them?

Aparently, my love life exists online.

What song will they play at your funeral?
He Ping [Stefanie Sun]
When i die the world would be peaceful again.

How does the world see you?
Ugly [Sugababes]
Now this is the only answer that makes sense. IF I'M UGLY THEN SO ARE YOU!

Will you have a happy life?
The Frog Prince [Keane]
"Your prince's crown
Cracks and falls down
Your castle hollow and cold
You've wandered so far
From the person you are"
Oh er, doesn't sound good.

What do your friends really think of you?
Speechless [The Veronicas]
Wow, this is a powerful song. I'm not so great la. -shy-

Do people secretly lust after you?
What I've Been Looking For [Ryan & Sharpay, High School Musical OST]
This is abit weird cos it's kid's singing. Lust? The song's so wholesome with all the doo-doo-doo and whoa-a-aos.

How can I make myself happy?
Portions for Foxes [Grey's Anatomy OST]
"And I'm bad news
Baby I'm bad news
I'm just bad news, bad news, bad news"
Not a happy song...

Same Side of the Moon [Corrinne May]
Move on?

Will you ever have children?
Rang Kai [Wang Li Hom]
I highly doubt so.

I won't tag anyone, cos i doubt they would do anyways. But if you feel like doing this, then oh wait, you're tagged!

crocodile hunter dead!

Crikey!

"Steve Irwin, the enthusiastic "Crocodile Hunter" who enthralled audiences around the world with his wildlife adventures, died Monday after being stung by a stingray while shooting a TV program off Australia's north coast...

...Irwin, 44, was killed by a stingray barb that pierced his chest..."

-CNN.com

Oh shizz this is so sad.

Steve Irwin was like one of the few people who upon mentioning of his name and profession, would invoke recognition by both children and adults alike.

Even if people found him irritating and noisy, they cannot deny that he was entertaining.

I bet most animals recognised him too. He was an icon!

"i had a bowl of bitchy this morning"

I saw some woman on the mrt in the morning wearing a t-shirt that said that.

Now what the hell is that supposed to mean?

Is it supposed to make her bitchy? Bitchy isn't even edible. Heck it's not even containable.

I was looking at the woman and giggling on the whole journey. From CCK to Woodlands.

It didn't help that she had totally no style. Oh wait, she did.

Chapalang style.

Her top was green, her bottom was gray 3 quarts, she wore running shoes not unlike those from Army and carried a pink handbag. And she looked like Kim Sam Soon.

Minus the pretty.

Goodness. Now i think I had a bowl of bitchy this morning.

On a totally random note (because i have nothing substantial to blog about), i just totally love Beyonce and her new song Deja Vu to death, but the music vid really stinks!

After all that dance lessons, she still looked like a So You Think You Can Dance contestant. And not those that would make it through to the next round.

Her star is fading fast! It's time for a Destiny's Child reunion pronto!

overdue pictures

After the Zoe Tay entry, the blogging part of my brain closed down for repair and restoration, so here's some random pictures (i feel so xiaxue right now) from the outing we had to supposedly celebrate ZM's birthday on the 25th August.

Yes, this is so overdue.

Joshua and i actually took the (3rd) pic at Bishan MRT station. We got a warning from the testy staff patrolling around.

We went to have dessert at this shophouse called Mei Heong Yuen Dessert, but not before being led on a wild goosechase by our dear ZM's girl. We walked there from Tanjong Pagar MRT when it's just across the road from Chinatown MRT.

But it was worth it cos the desserts were to die for! It's definitely gonna make an appearance on gluttonism soon. Watch out for it!

Listening

I don't want you to think of me as an eavesdropper so I'll just say that I'm listening to music instead of my neighbour's maid flirting with my other neighbour's driver.

Reading

I like it when people think of me as an intellectual so I will list a bunch of intellectual-sounding books here, even those I don't plan to read.

Viewing

Since I can't list my porn collection here, I'll just leave it this way until I can force myself to watch non-pornographic stuff, which may or may not happen.
