THE WEST WING

I'm gonna be in a performance called The West Wing running from 4th to 8th April, 8pm, with a special matinee performance on the 5th of April , 2pm, at the University Cultural Centre.

I'm playing a witless monk and i'm singing too! Come support me k!

You can get tickets at www.sistic.com at $18, $20 and $23 for the night shows and $15 for the matinee!

A short synopsis of the opera, which is IN ENGLISH btw:

A controversial Chinese Opera play written in the Tang Dynasty will be staged for the first time in Asia in English, and with contemporary dance and music (featuring songs by the Pussy Cat Dolls, Sean Kingston, James Blunt, Alicia Keys, Queen, ACDC and Bon Jovi, just to name a few.)

Titled Xi Xiang Ji, or Meeting the Fox Fairy in English, the play was banned during the period of three dynasties, for its risqué and liberal political and sexual content.

For the first time, the National University of Singapore is bringing this play to the stage – but with a modern twist.

In its original Chinese text, the play was performed in closely rhymed verse. Here, NUS has taken the bold step to interpret the play in English, using Shakespearean heroic couplets to mimic its traditional rhyme.

Considered by many scholars to be the best piece of Chinese opera in existence, it is with great pride that the National University of Singapore stages this controversial text in a performance that will be filled with lust, comedy and tragedy.

This is a story of young love, a story of determination, and above all, a story that will prove to audiences that Chinese opera is, quite simply, not “dead.”

I promise it would be a good show!!!

upset

Yea, i'm only a supporting cast coming out for 5 out of the 30 scenes in the production.

Anyone wanna back out now?

FYI, people playing minor roles work hard too. Countless rehearsals and time poured into the process.

And when i actually ask you guys to come watch, it shows that i actually still treat you as a close friend. I actually bothered to scroll through the phonebook to send invites.

Of course you must pay, but don't you have to pay for most plays?

Disappoints me to hear the rejection. And not even the polite "i have lots of work" kind, but the in-your-face "you're not important hence i shan't bother" kind.

Thanks alot.

Now i know where i stand.

cobwebs indeed

I have been extremely busy to the max guys! Not dead yet, but just nearly!

Just finished with Cheerobics last sunday! Didn't get a placing in the team and mixed group categories but we got 1st runner-up for our all girl group! So proud of them!

Now i can concentrate on my theatre production rehearsals without the weight of the competition on me!

Anyway, i'm sure those in NUS have seen the bright red posters around school with people wearing chinese opera costumes in them. That's the production i'm in! Come watch me alright?

Details at THIS website!

I'm singing and acting very silly, so you can come laugh at me!

Listening

I don't want you to think of me as an eavesdropper so I'll just say that I'm listening to music instead of my neighbour's maid flirting with my other neighbour's driver.

Reading

I like it when people think of me as an intellectual so I will list a bunch of intellectual-sounding books here, even those I don't plan to read.

Viewing

Since I can't list my porn collection here, I'll just leave it this way until I can force myself to watch non-pornographic stuff, which may or may not happen.
