this is furonda



The answer is simple.

Join America's Next Top Model, where women, who're considered ugly by society's standards, are oooh-ed and ahhh-ed at and praised for their bug-eyes, bulbous noses, sausage lips and square jaws.

That's why i love this show! The ugly have hope!

Went to this super cool ANTM website recommended by Alvin. In there's all the photos of all the contestants from all 8 cycles of the show. And when i say photos, i don't mean only those from the photoshoots in the show, but even photoshoots from after the contestants get the boot from the show and land in the real world of modelling.

As i was browsing the more familiar names from the show, Furonda from cycle 6's portfolio really caught my attention.

She's this totally horrible looking reject of an insect that somehow not only made it into the show, but stayed quite long and actually improved tremendously.

She's still ugly, but well, she takes a fierce photo.

I got a little obsessed with her to the point where i was sending Alvin photos of her on msn.

My nick had the [nausea] in it because i just came from from a night swim and for some reason felt like vomitting.

Apparently Alvin found the conversation hilarious because he pasted it on his blog straight off the msn chat! After reading it, i got so tickled that i immediately told him that i would too.

I even tried sharing a "Furonda" background with him. He didn't accept it at first, but after much coaxing he finally came around.



Ok maybe i'm too obsessed with her.

i finally got off my ass and did something

Since being retrenched from the SAF, i've found myself to be quite horribly busy with god knows what, and thus i felt that i wasn't updating this space as religiously as i would have liked.

This entry's gonna make up for that, but it's gonna be minimal commentary and an overloading of pictures.

Just the way i like it.

The day that i collected my pink IC was the same day that the Sec 1 camp at Greenridge Sec, which i was a facilitator in, started.




It lasted for 3 days and all of us were super shagged after that from constantly talking at the top of our voices to make the kids listen.

I remembered we brought the kids to Fort Canning and the camp organiser cautioned us not to shout at the children because there were outside people around. In the end i got allocated the very last Normal Tech class and i had to scream at them to play games.

"Do you all want to play games? You've been complaining that the camp's boring because there're no games and now i'm asking you all to play, you all refuse to co-operate. Do you want this camp to be just talking and NO GAMES? I give you all 10 seconds to form a circle in front of me now! 10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1..."

And formed they did. Haha!

Even thou we were all complaining about how rowdy and misbehaved the kids were, at the end of the day, it was sad to leave. But oh well, they wouldn't have remembered me anyway.

Because of this camp, i missed out on my BMT platoon gathering.



From the photos, it seemed like a load of fun. Without me. Wanted to photoshop myself in the pic but was too lazy. Haha!

Had an early celebration for Daren because Amir had to fly off to Europe and thus couldn't attend his actual birthday celebration. The theme of the day was "Stripes"!



Went to TCC before heading down to Menotti's for their delicious mini cakes. The cakes go for half price after 10pm, so it wasn't ex at all.

Went for a dye job because i received a birthday discount from Singtel.



My hair's a blue-black base with ash streaks. But now if you see me the streaks are damn gold cos the dye's faded. But it's nicer like that.

My stylist's called Jackeline, so if any of you are mightily jealous of my hair, you can go find her at the Supercuts at Far East. She's off on Mondays thou. Just tell her that i referred her to you, cos she knows me.

Got free Rivermaya concert tickets from youth.sg and dragged Tee Seng along for it. I reckon he's got the "free" face. Remember i got free tickets to The Swimming Instructor? He went with me too.



Since Rivermaya's a Philippines band, there were groups of maid-looking women screaming their undying devotion. It was hilarious cos TS kept imitating the Tagalog accent and saying stuff like, "Madarm call arsk me where i at bart i doon dare answer because she dunch know i carm Ribermaya concert."

I can't do it as well as he can. Hilarity i tell you!

Anyhow, the concert rocked! They sang in English by the way, although there were some Tagalog songs thrown in, making the maids wild and giddy with excitement.

And yes, those were blown up condoms.

Celebrated the birthday of the most chachafied person in my world, KOH TEE SENG, where he treated us to Sushi Tei. After that we went to Settler's Cafe where we surprised him in the middle of our gaming with a cake and his retardedly cute presents!



It wasn't easy to plan the surprise because we all were working and had no time to meet up, so Daren and i were scheming over web messenger at work and sending unreciprocated emails to Amir and Roger about the elaborate plan.

We very nearly made him cry when we called him at midnight and sang happy birthday to him over loudspeaker, while we were on the cab home. Dang. Should have emo-ed more.

sov 2007

This was the first year that i took part in SOV not as a member of the audience but as part of the performance.

Although not the main item, being part of the guest item was a nice feeling. It's been awhile, 3 years in fact, since my last time singing on stage with a choir.

I had friends smsing me during interval saying that they didn't know that i would be performing. At this i replied that i didn't know they were coming.

Although i wasn't from VJ, i could feel the emotions coming through when we were singing No Man is an Island. Although i was afraid that i would be terribly out of place, i was surprisingly holding my own beside the older more experienced members of Chorale.

And i actually had a crash course in the song during dinner before the performance.

I've conformed to the stereotype and am currently very frazzled with the number of stupid and rude Singaporeans that call in on a daily basis.

Some background infomation, i'm currently a part-time telemarketing exec, handling the phone enquiries of different roadshows. Sometimes, i also get general enquiry calls which are none of my concern but yet, i try my best to answer.

Before working here, i never knew how stupid some Singaporeans can be!

Just imagine that i could have an actual conversation like this!







CLASSIC!

I've always thought that majority of the locals are educated, if not knowledgeable enough so as not to appear utterly spastic.

OBVIOUSLY NOT.

Oh! I have to share another hilarious call that i received! It actually made my department laugh!

"Er... Hello, where can i order my notebook?"

"You can go to the website to download the order form."

"That's the problem, i don't have internet connection."

(after discussion with my colleagues and much thinking)

"Do you have any friends?"

"HUH?"

"I mean, do you have any friends with internet connection?"

My colleagues laughed!

Oh the other hand, a bad aspect of being a telemarketer is that i have to handle the ching chong students from CHINA!



I must make it clear that i'm in no way prejudiced against China people, it's just that my Chinese capabilities are seriously limited. If you know me, you'll know.

I think it's a JC thing. Someone once told me that poly students generally speak better Mandarin than JC students. Maybe it's the culture la.

The very first time i encountered a China student, i had so much trouble just translating the sentence, "You have to go to the website and follow the instructions".

In the end, i told her, "Ni yao qu wang lu na bian geng zhe instructions."

She replied with a, "Er... Wo bu zhi dao ni zhai shuo shen me", in that cheena China slang.

URGH!

I also want to tell her that i cannot understand her!

However, i'd gladly talk to 20 China students than to some Singaporeans who speak perfectly good English. Some people reaaaally make me wanna clench my fists and grit my teeth, and yet, i have to speak to them nicely and try to get them to listen.

Here's one typical scenario.









These kind of customers are the really longwinded kind. They can paint a whole portrait in technicolours when they just want to simply find out the status of their order.

What's worse is if they use the goddamn irritated and impatient tone with me, as if i can control when they get their goods.

I'M JUST THE FREAKING TEMP!

But it's ok, i can get my own kicks out of this.





I simply love stressing on the "10 to 15 working days" part! I get a cheap thrill listening to the impatient customers let out a loud GASP!



MUAHAHAHAHA! CAN YOU FEEL THE SENSE OF EMPOWERMENT?

There are also customers who are just plain rude and unreasonable!

A few days ago, i was just ranting about this retarded bitch of a woman who called me up demanding i answer her question.

Retarded bitch: "How much does it cost to service my computer?"

note she didn't even say hello.

Victim: "This is the sales department, so i wouldn't know the cost of fixing a technical issue, you'll have to refer to the service centre for the price. Why not you take down the number?"

Retarded bitch: "Why can't you just transfer me directly?"

Victim: "I will, but in case you can't get through, you can call that number."

Retarded bitch: "So i won't be able to get through right?"

Victim: "I wouldn't know, it depends on the call traffic at the service centre."

Retarded bitch: "Why can't you just tell me? There must be a standard charge to fixing a laptop right?"

Victim: "That i wouldn't know, because it is totally different departments!"

by this time i was slightly irritated and totally wanted to hang up on her already.

Retarded bitch: "Then it must be a very lousy company you're running or you must be very dumb."

NC16 - the swimming instructor

I wouldn't have caught this play last Thursday if not for the free tickets that i got from a friend's friend's friend (don't ask, too confusing), who was in the production crew.

Apparently, some sponsors who were supposed to turn up cancelled last minute and they had many free tickets to give away. I think most of the people were there FOC.

Cheapskates. Like me.

Thank God for friends who think of me in times of er... freebies?

Anyway, i've captured the play's essence in the following drawing. I was working on it the entire morning, in the midsts of answering calls, using PAINT!

Too used to the ease of Photoshop.



Basically, it's a story about a go-getting advertising executive (Dave) and a vivacious rich girl (Jen), meeting in a pool one day and falling for the same guy, a down-to-earth swimming instructor (Guan).

Sidetracking abit, everytime someone said "Guan", i would feel like shouting out "GUANTANAMERA!"

Back to the topic, before anyone thinks, "Eeeyer, gay play, yucks gross ew", it's actually so much more than that! The play was an emotional rollercoaster (all three of the actors had emo scenes. Jen had 2, of which she actually cried in one! PRO!) and themes like loss, death, love, disintegration of the family unit, and of cos lust were present.

When the play first began, i felt that Isabella Chiam, who played Jen, had an easy role because all she had to do was some over-the-top bimbo/sex-crazed acting. However, as the play progressed, she blow me away with her subtler scenes and when she was talking about how screwed up her family was, she actually had tears in her eyes! I was like WHOA!

Lim Wee Hong, who played Guan, was seriously ah beng to the max. Throughout the play, i felt like slapping him cos his accent was so typically kopitiam!

Jeremy Lee, or Dave, had the much tougher role of being the emotionally scarred individual who tries not to fall for Guan, although he was still kinda stiff in his acting.

But for those who're not interested in the depth of the play, just go watch it for the FLESH la!

For the girls (and some guys), Guan and Dave had on more tanning oil than clothing! And Dave even exposed his butt in a shower scene! -RAWR-

For the guys (and some girls), Jen was a naughty little minx, thrusting her boobs and butt in the faces of the audience, all while flipping her hair and looking nonchalant about it! And it didn't hurt one bit that she looked like Felicia Chin with a dash of ang mohness in her features. HAWT!

the job's getting to me

I'm PMSing today.

I've been irritable and impatient the entire day, snapping at customers on the phone and friends on msn.

My biggest faux paux of the day was when i asked a customer, "Did you order directly or did you apply through any interest loans or what shit."

After i blurted the last word out, i immediately thought, "oh crap!"

Then i put him on hold and told my supervisor what i said. Luckily the customer didn't realise anything.

Yesterday my supervisor received a call from a guy who was like 10 times worse than the retarded bitch that scolded me dumb.

He scolded her "You stupid Chinese pig!"

You see how much heartache we can have working in this line? Sigh.

At least i'm just the temp. Can you imagine working at this job for 7 years!?!?

After coming back from lunch, i saw this big box on my table.



My colleague bought Vinco doughnuts and thoughtfully gave one to me! How nice!

But i'm damn bloated from lunch now.

During lunch my colleagues were discussing how i looked very sporty to them. One even said i looked like a sprinter.

That was such a joke.

What do i do when i realise that the tension that i've been feeling for awhile now isn't due to my over-sensitiveness, but is so real that i can cut it with a knife?

feeling random and unwell

Some people complained that there were no pictures from my Genting trip. Well, the camera wasn't put into much use since we were permanently parked in the casino and i should think there were restrictions to photography.

This is the only photo with me and my parents inside.



We were watching the Malaysia's version of Deal or no Deal. Very retarded with the audience going "bu mai bu mai" and doing the spasticated hand movement.



Going down the mountain, the fog was so bad that my dad had to lean forward to try to look further. Not that it worked though.

That's all the photos i took. The trip wasn't a sightseeing trip so what did you expect? Me to camwhore with my parents?!?!

post labour day

I'm back at work. -grumbles-

But i've got a pay rise of 50 cents! It's peanuts still but slightly larger ones.

But i had to walk through a battlefield just to get the increment, and there were some casualties (i'm terribly sorry xh). I regretted even asking for anything. Sigh, i hope your wounds heal fast. I'm abit scared of you, or rather, how you feel towards me now.

On to a brighter note, my Genting trip was really fun! Although some people might think going overseas with parents would be a bore, i beg to differ!

At first that was what i thought too, that's why i was a little reluctant to go. My brothers wouldn't be going as they were having exams, so it would be just me and my parents. When i told someone that, he gave me the incredulous look and said, "WAH! WHAT IS THIS? BONDING AR?"

Well, why not? Everything's free when you go out with parents! I got free food, free clothes and even my gambling's FOC!

Yes, that's right! The casino was very nearly my second hotel room. My first was of cos the gross First World Hotel room with the seperated shitting and shower area.

Anyway, back to the casino. I must have entered the full body metal detector to get into the casino 7 times, and i was stopped 5 times.

I didn't shave while i was there, so i guess i kinda looked like a terrorist.

Just kidding.

The security didn't think i looked 21! I was stopped by 5 different guards at different entrances! I had to pull out my IC 5 times to verify!

Heng i just turned 21. I can't imagine how embarrassing it would have been if i tried to sneak in before i became of age. Confirm kena caught one! I never shave and my hair so long and dyed also get stopped.

And seriously speaking, i must have been the youngest looking person in the entire casino! Everyone else can be classified under uncles, aunties and ah peks!

Because of this, i finally came to know of something good that my mother passed down to me. At first, i thought all she handed down to me in the hereditary department were the fats, the hairiness, the thunder thighs and the height, but i overlooked one thing. The youthful looks! My mum's close to 50 but looks like she's 30 plus!

So i hope i still look like a small boy when i hit my 30s. Muahahahaha! Although i'm trying to make myself look older. Too boy boy also not nice la.

Anyway, in the casino i only played this game my dad intro-ed to me, called Baccarat. That's the only game aside from Roulette that he plays.

I dun really like Roulette, it's too random. Baccarat is random too, but sooner or later you'll see some pattern/sequence, although it's not totally similar.

Ther version i played was the closest to Punto Banco (North American Baccarat), but there's slight differences.

Bottomline was i won money! I actually won back whatever i spent on clothes, but sadly, my dad went and lost it all!

I feel like organising a gambling field trip! Who's interested! Haha! We'll go into the casino one big group and all get stopped by the security! Damn cool!

Anyway, i loved the FOS there! It was my third home, seeing how i spent like more than an hour trying on pants and a tee shirt and belts!

In the end i bought an Xdye shirt, a dunno what brand pants and a uber bright orange/red/yellow belt to go with it!

The only place i know in Singapore that carries Xdye stuff is at Pull and Bear and it's like $30 plus for a tee. I bought mine for 26.90RM! Rocks!

Too bad they don't have Abercrombie and Fitch stuff. But they're already loads better than the FOS-es in Singapore!

OMG I SOUND DAMN HIMBO! Ok ok i shall stop here incase i get even more himbotic.
